Consultancy services

Providing advice and support for project development and feasibility studies up to RIBA Stage 2.

We have an excellent track record in working with clients to help define the project brief and understand funding and project timescales. We particularly welcome working with smaller organisations who may have less experience of understanding the process and requirements of capital build and redevelopment activities. 


Budget and cost management

Developing and managing the budget across design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases to control variations and contingencies

We have managed budgets ranging in scale from £250K to £30M and can oversee the administration of project finance systems in order to ensure that costs are effectively managed and real-time reporting of spend and variations to the contract are current and accurate. 

Acting as client representative

Understanding and translating client requirements into a project brief and delivery plan based on programme, cost and specification priorities

We are skilled at drawing out and helping to define client aspirations for the projects we work on and shaping these into development briefs, prioritised areas of spend and formal contracts.  We can undertake feasibility and high level studies on behalf of clients in order to help scope future aspirations and advise on possibilities.

Design team selection, co-ordination and management

Selecting, procuring and contracting design teams of experienced consultants and leading and co-ordinating their activities.

We select, contract and lead design teams in a co-operative and open manner in order to represent and meet client requirements and achieve programme targets.  We manage communications effectively and ensure that decision making processes and controls are efficiently recorded and effectively transmitted. We add real value to design problem solving discussions, especially where budgets are tight and practical and realisable solutions are needed to meet complex project requirements.     

Procurement including contracts and appointments

Tendering and appointing suitable contractors and specialist suppliers on behalf of the client.

We advise the client on the most appropriate and efficient procurement route for their needs and then set up and manage all associated contracts and services agreements.  We can suggest trusted consultants and contractors across disciplines for client consideration and will manage all procurement processes so they deliver to programme requirements effectively and efficiently. 

Design release schedule and programme management

Managing both pre-construction and build information release schedules and activities on site through to practical completion and client handover.

We produce, maintain and monitor both high level and detailed programmes covering all aspects of the projects we lead.  We work closely with both design and construction teams to understand the risks associated with programme variations and proactively work with those concerned to problem solve and mitigate the effects of unanticipated delay. 

Management of statutory approvals

Ensuring project aspirations meet planning and all other statutory provisions

We ensure all planning requirements and statutory regulations are identified and fulfilled in a timely and cost effective manner. We have particular expertise in finding solutions which meet Code 6 and associated sustainability requirements.
